I have read great reviews on seismic's website, but on nearly every other gear forum, seismic gets a bad rap. My seismic snake has been a tank and has held up extremely well thus far. He loves the system and swears by seismic audio gear, but he lives far away so I can't really go hear the system in person. I have a friend who has more or less the same setup, only using all passive speakers and seismic power amps. One huge benefit of this package is that it will allow us to use our EVs as floor monitors, which would make everyone in the band much happier. The subwoofers have satellite amps built in that can drive the 2x15 speakers at 200w. I also plan to purchase a DBX Driverack PA2. Specifically, this package: ġ8 inch powered subwoofer (800w RMS) (x2)Ģx15 passive tower speaker rated at 700w RMS (x2) I've been heavily considering a Seismic Audio system.

I'm looking to upgrade our PA considerably, but I don't have a ton of cash on hand. Our powered EV's can't handle the whole band running through them in these situations, mostly in the low end. In both of these situations, we need to provide a PA. Lately, we've been booking shows outdoors and also at larger bars that don't have a PA.

When we need to bring a PA, it has historically been for smaller venues where we could get away without micing up guitars or drums. In most of the larger bars / venues, a PA is provided for us.

We've been playing out for the better part of a year. I'm in a 5 piece indie rock / pop band (2 guitars, bass guitar, drums, vocals).ĮV ZLX12P Powered speakers (250w RMS) (x2) As the Seismic boxes allow more than one inter-box rigging angle, they cannot be categorized as a CC design. Here's my situation.

The only items marketed (inaccurately) as line arrays that don't need such sophisticated data and software to implement are Constant Curvature designs.
#Seismac audio professional#
In the case of individual line array elements - a professional product also comes with a lot of hard work behind the scenes, to allow arrays to be properly designed and implemented each time they are deployed. Sometimes the cost of professional gear includes parts hidden from casual window shoppers, unfamiliar with how such equipment actually works.

How would the end user know how to correctly rig the array for any particular space?

That doesn't reflect well on the minimal amount of data they provide for these loudspeakers.įurthermore I cannot see any clf or gll files, or similar data on their site, nor do they have proprietory modelling software. Seismic have rated a simple reflex loaded 2 x 15" sub in the same product line, as having a 90° x 50° coverage - yet the box has neither the capability to achieve such pattern control individually nor rigging that allows directional sub arrays in multiples. I will be shire and share my findings with my fellow sluts.peach If they are no good, then maybe I will take it up the ass form JBL. I have family in Memphis, and the next time I'm up for a visit I am going to get a demo of their line arrays. I don't know if these speakers are any good or not, but I do know that the other companies gear is way over priced. I am happy with the the gear I have gotten from them. I have not purchased any speakers from them, but I have purchased a 100 ft snake on a roller for my pre-sinus 24.4.2 AI, as well as a bunch of other cables and snakes, and racks.

It also should be noted that the company is in Memphis, about 5 miles from the Fedx hub thats how they can offer free shipping. I have to give credit to seismic audio for keeping the price down by disturbing direct from the factory. I am willing to bet that if the big boys like JBL deducted retail mark up and marketing costs from their price, they would be half the listed price. I am interested to know if any of you gear sluts have actually heard these speakers, it seems there is a lot of trash talk going on hear about this product.
